Swooping Griffons
Whilst sat on top of Los Tolmos this beast flew under us
Resting on top of the stack the other day, early evening, and a "collective noun" of Vultures came gliding by. We captured this shot pretty quickly. This Griffon Vulture is typical of the area. They mostly eat carrion and can travel in excess of 100km in search of something to eat, soaring on thermal currents and expending minimal energy. If they're lucky enough to find a dead goat, or piece of road kill they can gorge on the carrion then find it difficult to take off again!
